Made some comments on The View yesterday that were rather outlandish in saying that radical Christianity was just as dangerous as radical Islam. My question is with her being a card carrying democrat and outspoken supporter as well as financial contributor to the party does it hurt dems for her to make such comments or do people just really not pay attention to her? I know The View has a large female fan base so she definitely has an audience. Just don't know how much people would pay attention to such rhetoric.

I really don't think her comments hurt the democratic party as of yet. According to what others think and how much empasis she puts out to the public will determine if her input hurts the party.

Well at times I have thought that because of her status she spats at the mouth too much. She does not come across to me as one who can agree to diagree. But that is just me, I really don't care to watch her and hear her views on anything because of past attitudes she displayed.

George Michael(the professor at UVA Wise) has a book out on this topic...it talks more about the extreme right.

Wouldn't you consider white supremacists and their ties to fundamental Christianity to be dangeriously radical?

Not defensive just found it strange that you didn't see the outlandishness in the comment.

White supremacist or the Arian brotherhood tie themselves to Nazism more so than anything else. They also try to tie themselves to the Confederate Flag which offends the Sons of the Confederacy. They have very little true ties with Christianity even in a radical sense because they preach hatred and intolerance while Christianity preaches love and forgiveness. Even at that I don't know of many white supremacists groups or Black and Latino gangs that could collectively be considered as dangerous as radical islam.

I agree with VTgal- how is that outlandish? Radicalism is radicalism. You said that radical Christians are separated from the religion - well the same is true for Islam. Radical Muslims have very little "true" ties to the religion of Islam. Most normal Muslims don't support suicide bombing, terrorist acts etc.
Some of these white supremacist and Aryan groups you are talking about are just as scary as radical Muslims.
